ABridged is a photo series started by Sybil Amber 2008.
 |

These pictures were collected throughout basic research work according to cities in Vienna 2008. I found some interesting places and grafitti, too. These bridges were the Linienwall once, built in the 19th century. When architects failed to plan things properly, Otto Wagner was charged with the administration of 40km Viadukte and railway tracks, formerly the so - called Stadtbahn.

I shot these photos with a small digital cam and I attempted to catch the atmosphere by depicting urban spaces. I did not really want to create "stand - alone" photos, for, say, an exhibition. I took them more to take notes and create a visual reference to further my work. What I found were rewarding objects and places of communication. Restaurants, cafes, bars, tram and bus stations, people in motion, places to rest, shops and workshops. I saw hundreds and thousands of people on their way, using public transport.

I detected signs of resistance and political involvement.
|

I found little shady bars, a bureau for the poor and writings on the walls. Machines to drop out bubble gums and sweet stuff. Posters and messages posted anonymously, trees, little parks and small fruit and veggie markets. People shaking their heads, some were smiling.
