Intro (Draft/Skizze) At first, I localize the topic of visual cultures and what the anthropology of the visual is. For me, visual cultures include performance studies (dance, theater, etc.) and filmic products, as well as artefacts of various cultures without applying scales of worthiness. Visual cultures therefore can be seen as art, but they do not have to be — emically and etically, from inside societal means or imposed evaluation from the outside. Die Barrelhouse Jazzband hat eine neue CD veröffentlicht, und sehr gut! Klassische Jazztitel, wie When My Dreamboat Comes Home oder das wunderschöne I´m Coming, Virginia! wurde in zwei Tagen eingespielt, am 26. und 27. Mai 2008. Da sieht man´s wieder, die Profis brauchen nur ihr Instrument und den Crazy Rhythm Since 50 Years! Wer bei der Praesentation zugegen war, wusste: Diese CD ist schon vergriffen, wie auch alle vorherigen. Selbst das Privileg Verwandtschaft, Tochter oder Sohn einer der Jazzmusiker zu sein, verhilft nicht zu einem Exemplar. Das wunderschöne Logo sollte als Kleber auch wieder veröffentlicht werden, und hier Le Marchand De Poissons!

In this article I refer not only to Jazz lyrics, but also to Jazz embedded in society. There are many sources online and a central source to understand Jazz is the Ethnopoetics website providing examples on scatting, for instance. Jazz has been a symbol for resistance and uprising, and it includes feelings of despair, sadness and autonomy. The roots of Jazz date back to the nineteenth century and the developments in Blues referred to by Professor Kubik. Gerhard Kubik s Africa and the Blues gives a more detailed account on the music itself by processing the analysis of sounds and instruments:
